July 2011: the Spanish hotel chain IBB Hotels continues its expansion in Europe.

September 2009: The five-star Grandhotel Römerbad in Badenweiler in southern Baden (Markgräflerland region) has got a new owner. The Von der Heyden investment group buys the 76-room hotel from its previous owner, Karl-Heinz Berkner. Starting October, the hotel will be operated by the Spanish IBB Hotels chain that runs two other hotels in Germany - in Erfurt and Passau.

Von der Heyden Group has become through an additional purchase of shares the 70% major shareholder in IBB Hotels.

 In 2001 Von der Heyden Group, a pan-European investor and developer acquired 25,5% of the shares in IBB Hotels, followed by an increase to 40% in 2005, to 50% in 2007 and now to 70% in 2008.

After two years from the opening of IBB Erfurt Hotel in the heart of the old town in the capital of Thuringia, the IBB hotel group continues to expand in Germany. On July 1, 2008 the property in the Bavarian three-river city Passau which was managed before by Holiday Inn, was taken over by the international investment company Dawnay Day.Read more
