Labour practices at IBB Hotel and Cugó Gran Collection

Each year, International Workers’ Day offers a moment for pause and reflection. It gives us a a chance to honour the people behind our operations and reaffirm our commitment to ethical employment practices. At IBB Hotel and Cugó Gran Collection, we believe that hospitality starts from within. That means creating a workplace where our team members are respected, supported, and heard.

Since the start of 2023, we’ve implemented internal labour practice reporting across our hotels. The goal? To collect real-time data that helps us understand how we’re doing as an employer and where we need to do better. Today, we’re taking the opportunity to share some of that, alongside a preview of our evolving labour policies.

This year, we’ve seen strong progress in gender balance across our organisation. Half of all employees at IBB Hotel Collection identify as female, and significantly, 50% of managerial roles are held by women. This balance is something we’re actively working to protect and expand upon as we continue developing leadership programs and recruitment strategies.

We’re equally proud of our 77% employee satisfaction score, which reflects meaningful progress in how our teams feel about their workplace experience. This score is the result of improved onboarding, professional development opportunities, and ongoing employee feedback initiatives.

A look ahead

As part of our long-term vision for greater transparency and ethical leadership, we are currently developing a public policies section on our websites. Inspired by our parent company Von der Heyden Group, this space will provide guests, partners, and team members with open access to our policies on employment, equality, conduct, and more. While it may not launch immediately, it is very much in the works, and we look forward to updating you in the months ahead.

“Hospitality is built on people. From our receptionists and room attendants to our chefs, technicians, and office teams – every individual matters. Our aim is to ensure that working at IBB Hotel Collection is not just a job, but a meaningful and rewarding experience.”
Samuel Santos, CEO of IBB Hotel Collection

On this International Workers’ Day, we reaffirm our commitment to people-first hospitality. We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken and even more excited for what lies ahead.
